The Carl Sandburg College baseball team’s winning streak was snapped at eight games Friday as Black Hawk swept an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader with the Chargers at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
Already up 3-0, the Braves broke the game open with an eight-run third inning without the benefit of an extra-base hit. Black Hawk collected seven singles, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in the frame.
Sandburg Standout
Ben Higgins (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) went 1 for 3 and knocked in the Chargers’ lone run with a base hit to right to plate Austin Collinson (Normal, Ill./West), who led off the inning with a walk.

Key Moment
The Chargers (12-17, 6-4) trailed 4-3 after single tallies in each of the first three innings, but Black Hawk extended its lead in the fourth with a two-out rally that led to three runs, thanks to back-to-back singles, a two-run triple and an RBI base hit.

Second baseman Isaac Riegler (McLean, Ill./Olympia) went 2 for 3 with a home run and two runs scored out of the ninth spot in the batting order.
